What is exfoliating?

Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells using an exfoliating agent. Skin cells are renewed and replaced in a cycle that lasts about 28 days. Why is exfoliation important for the skin?

Washing your face regularly doesn’t always remove all the dead skin cells, which can leave your complexion looking dull and tired. A gentle face exfoliator such as GinZing™ Refreshing Scrub Cleanser or Checks and Balances™ Face Scrub helps rid your skin of residual flakes that may be clogging your pores. Additionally, an exfoliating face wash preps your skin for following skincare products, including toners, face serums, face lotion face lotion, moisturizers and specialty treatments like masks.

How to exfoliate your face

To exfoliate your face, prep by gently cleansing your skin. Based on your skin’s needs, select the right exfoliator, such as GinZing™ Refreshing Scrub Cleanser with smoothing and brightening effects. Gently massage the exfoliator in a circular motion onto wet skin with your fingertips, avoiding the eyes. Don’t use an exfoliator if you have any open wounds on your skin. After about 30 seconds, thoroughly rinse your face with lukewarm water, and use a clean towel to absorb excess water. Finish with a treatment lotion or moisturizer.
